Since I know you all are DYING to know...here was/are the plans, in PARTICULAR order!
Wednesday, lunch with girlfriend at Figo, yummy Italian place. Much good girl talk.
Thursday night, wonderful call with Nancy aka shoegal. We snarked over and while watching Dancing with the Stars and martinis and husbands and kids and life in general.
This morning, BamBam, Thumper and Jake the wonder lab all descended in one loud, hyper and love filled heap on my bed and the human boys proceeded to sing "Happy Birthday" in my ear at full lung strength whilst the dog licked my face and my husband laughed..HARD!
Lunch.....Casa Yo Mama with my three men (early dismissal day from school for the boys). Tortilla soup for me followed by food coma.
Tonight is movie night and momma does not cook, but shall open presents and all cards with glass o wine in hand. Afterwards I will finish reading "Love Walked In"....halfway through and veddy veddy good by the way.
Tomorrow ..I shall deliver scrap for hire album, collect $300 (deposit in DC trip savings account) and come home and SCRAP all day!!!
In the evening, hubby and I head off to the wine bar in Dunwoody for tapas, wine (duh) and a piano player who plays the old romantic standards! We shall dance and smooch and be silly and romantic.
Sunday.....church and birthday luncheon with the inlaws.
Tuesday, birthday celebration at work and lunch with my girlfriends. I had planned on Silk, an absolutely swank and delish Thai restaurant up the street from my office, but now that a big ole car went and crashed THROUGH the restaurant this morning, causing "significant structural damage" I'll have to rethink lunch locale plans.
So there you have it...WOOT...Happy Birthday to ME!
(ahem...yes I do subscribe to the spread your birthday out over 7 days theory. Because tis GOOD to be the Queen!)

Wax and Women and Who ha's
I can't claim credit for this. God I wish I could. it is that funny. I could quit my day job and become a supastah comedic celebrity. But Alas no.
It was sent to me by a girlfriend and since it made me laugh until I was gasping and weeping and unable to articulate anything remotely coherent except the gasping and the weeping, I had to share.
Enjoy
One Woman's Tale of Woe
All hair removal methods have tricked women with their promises of easy, painless removal
The epilady, scissors, razors, Nair and now...the wax.
My night began as any other normal weeknight. Come home, fix dinner,
play with the kids. I then had the thought that would ring painfully in my mind for the next few hours:
"Maybe I should pull the waxing kit out of the medicine cabinet."
So I headed to the site of my demise: the bathroom.
It was one of those "cold wax" kits. No melting a clump of hot wax, you just rub the strips together in your hand, they get warm and you peel them apart and press them to your leg (or wherever else) and you pull the hair right off. No muss, no fuss.
How hard can it be?
I mean, I'm not a genius, but I am mechanically inclined enough to
figure this out. (YA THINK!?!) So I pull one of the thin strips out. Its two strips facing each other stuck together.
Instead of rubbing them together, my genius kicks in so I get out the hair dryer and heat it to 1000 degrees. ("Cold wax," yeah...right!)
I lay the strip across my thigh. Hold the skin around it tight and pull.
It works! OK, so it wasn't the best feeling, but it wasn't too bad.
I can do this! Hair removal no longer eludes me! I am She-rah, fighter of all wayward body hair and maker of smooth skin extraordinaire.
With my next wax strip I move north. After checking on the kids, I sneak back into the bathroom, for the ultimate hair fighting championship.
I drop my panties and place one foot on the toilet. Using the same procedure, I apply the wax strip across the right side of my
bikini line, covering the right half of my vagina and stretching down to the inside of my butt cheek
(Yes, it was a long strip)
I inhale deeply and brace myself....RRRRIIIPPP!!!!
I'm blind!!! Blinded from pain!!!!....OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! Vision
returning,I notice that I've only managed to pull off half the strip.
CRAP!!! Another deep breath and RRIIPP!! Everything is swirly and
spotted. I think I may pass out...must stay conscious...Do I hear crashing drums???
Breathe, breathe...OK, back to normal.
I want to see my trophy - a wax covered strip, the one that has caused me so much pain, with my hairy pelt sticking to it. I want to revel in the glory that is my triumph over body hair. I hold up the strip!
There's no hair on it. Where is the hair??? WHERE IS THE WAX???
Slowly I ease my head down, foot still perched on the toilet. I see the hair. The hair that should be on the strip. I touch. I am touching wax.
CRAP! I run my fingers over the most sensitive part of my body, which is now covered in cold wax and matted hair.
Then I make the next BIG mistake...remember my foot
is still propped up on the toilet? I know I need to do something. So I put my foot down.
DAMN!!!!!!!! I hear the slamming of a cell door.
Vagina? Sealed shut! Butt?? Sealed shut!
I penguin walk around the bathroom trying to figure out what to do and think to myself "Please don't let me get the urge to poop.
My head may pop off!"
What can I do to melt the wax? Hot water!! Hot water
melts wax!! I'll run the hottest water I can stand into the bathtub, get in immerse the wax-covered bits and the wax should melt and I can gently wipe it off,
Right??? *WRONG!!!!!!!*
I get in the tub - the water is slightly hotter than that used to
torture prisoners of war or sterilize surgical equipment - I sit.
Now, the only thing worse than having your nether regions glued
together, is having them glued together and then glued to the bottom of the tub...in scalding hot water. Which, by the way, doesn't melt cold wax.
So, now I'm stuck to the bottom of the tub as though I had
cement-epoxied myself to the porcelain!!
God bless the man who had convinced me a few months ago
to have a phone put in the bathroom!!!!!
I call my friend, thinking surely she has waxed before and has some
secret of how to get me undone. It's a very good conversation starter -
"So, my butt and who-ha are glued together to the bottom of the tub!"
There is a slight pause. She doesn't know any secret tricks for removal but she does try to hide her laughter from me. She wants to know exactly where the wax is located, "Are we talking cheeks or hole or who-ha?"
She's laughing out loud by now...I can hear her. I give her the rundown and she suggests I call the number on the side of the box. YEAH!!!!! Right!!
I should be the joke of someone else's night. While we go through
various solutions, I resort to scraping the wax off with a razor.
Nothing feels better then to have your girlie goodies covered in hot wax, glued shut, stuck to the tub in super hot water
and then dry-shaving the sticky wax off!!
By now the brain is not working, dignity has taken a major hike and
I'm pretty sure I'm going to need Post-Traumatic Stress counseling for this event.
My friend is still talking with me when I finally see my saving
grace....the lotion they give you to remove the excess wax. What do I really have to lose at this point?
I rub some on and OH MY GOD!!!!!!!
The scream probably woke the kids and scared the dickens out of my
friend.
It's sooo painful, but I really don't care. " It works!! IT WORKS!! "
I get a hearty congratulation from my friend and she hangs up.
I successfully remove the remainder of the wax and then notice to my
grief and despair....THE HAIR IS STILL THERE.......ALL OF
IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
So I recklessly shave it off. Heck, I'm numb by now.
Nothing hurts. I could have amputated my own leg at this point.
Next week I'm going to try hair color......
It was sent to me by a girlfriend and since it made me laugh until I was gasping and weeping and unable to articulate anything remotely coherent except the gasping and the weeping, I had to share.

Parents
Wen's entry today about parenting and the little moments that make it all worthwhile got me to thinking.
Eespecially in light of this amazing new book that I picked up at the library today. It has sucked me in, and I am pausing only long enough to post a blogging tag/ challenge and to fill my lungs before plunging back in for more.
In Lani Diane Rich's novel "Ex and the Single Girl" she writes
"It doesn't matter who your parents are or how wealthy or sick or ambivalent your realtionship with them is, they will always be the most powerful people in your life. They will be the ones whose approval you will always crave. They will be the ones who hold the power to elate or crush you with a word....your parents will always be the people who juggle knives over your heart. If you're lucky, they'll know it and juggle carefully."

Save the last dance
for me...toot toot...hey...beep beep!!!
Yeah baby...picture it.
Me and Thumper, birthday party, Sunday, after 5 hours of church, Sunday school and Scouts and Me.
Let's just say Mamma was ready to get her YAYA's out!
So we arrive at Sparkles! The whole name "Sparkles" just radiates, bright, clean, wholesome family fun right?
Well check on the wholesome, family fun part.
The bright, clean part? Not so much.
I walk in the door and instantly my senses are assailed by some unholy mix that was equal parts, mildew, sweat, decay, neglect...ACK
Thumper, having attended a birthday party at said "establishment" earlier in the school year, looked at me sympathetically and said "It DOES stink.... huh Mommy?"
Bright? I think somebody forgot to pay the power bill.
But I put on my mommy "game" face and forge ahead to the sign in tables
Yes........ we are with the So and So party
Yes..........we would like inline skates
Yes....... we will sign your nice little form, absolving you of all liability despite the fact that your establishment should have been closed down by the health department years ago.
Moving on.
We wait in line, get our skates, I have to take a MEN'S size TEN because that's all they have left and they are CRACKED! No seriously, there is a crack in the shell of the boot.
I mean I know I am a whopping 5'10" in my stocking feet, but I was SWIMMING in the 10's.
Sigh
So I tighten them the best I can, adjust Thumper's boots, grab his hand and step out onto the "dance floor"
And we had a BALL!
Those who know me, know I used to ice skate competitively. So the whole thing with roller blades wasn't that much of a transition except for
CRAP
Like skiing, you can't use outside edges (smacking forehead and dusting derriere off gingerly)
Other than that little hurdle, Thumper and I had a grand old time, shaking our groove thangs, cha cha'ing and otherwise acting like complete goofballs.
Sometimes...it's good to be the Queen!

DC Baby!
Christi guessed it!
Yes!
We are planning on heading off to Washington DC in March during our kids Spring Break. Hubby cashed in all his Marriot Points and we're staying for free for 6 days in a beautiful hotel just outside of DC in Falls Church. The hotel has an indoor pool (parental sanity saver #1) and a 5 minute shuttle to the Metro line (parental sanity saver #2) and it all adds up to SWEET!
We are driving to DC (saving those frequent flyer miles for our 20th anniversary trip sans kids to Italy!)
Checklist
1) I've been to Borders to buy the "Unofficial Guide to DC" If you all aren't familiar with this series of tour guides, you MUST check them out! The one we used for Disney turned a one day trip into a trip of a lifetime...pinky promise.
2) Hubby has also been in touch with our local congressman's office. He and the congressman serve on a board of trustee's together, so we should be able to get all the passes we need to the sites we want to see!
3) I've mapped out our prelim itinerary, (completely subject to change based on what our congressman can get for us in terms of tours)
4) Christi...can you post that link here for the National Treasure tour? I've already got the photo safari link saved!
All four of us are such history GEEKS that this is a dream come true! Hubby and I have been to DC before as 12 year olds, but being able to share this with our kids, who at a younger age, can spit back facts with more insight than we could at twelve is icing on the cake.
I'll be posting more in the months ahead, but for now..... Geek alert, Geek alert...we are DC bound the first full week in March!

What scrapbooking lines/products/etc do you DISlike?
The only thing I don't like is really juvenile, cutesy stuff.
What is the hardest thing you’ve ever had to scrap?
There's a story in every photo, so I can't really say anything has been ahrd so far.
What technique do you use more than any other?
stamping
Ever been published?
yes
What’s the smallest scrap of paper you save?
None! I give them all to my kids to use in THEIR scrapbooks!
Ever have any scrapbooking-related injuries?
An exacto knife.....sliced the heck out of the tip of my finger once. Needless to say handcut titles and me have parted ways.
Finish the sentence… “If I wasn’t a scrapbooker, I would spend my money….”
Books!!!!
Give us your best storage or organizational idea.
I use my leftover REpbulic of Tea tins for all my pencils and pens, they are like little works of art!
You just won a week-long scrapbooking cruise for 4. Who’s going with you?
That is so hard, but for sentimental reasons, I'll go with all my former STM girlies,
Wendy cause she makes me laugh HARD!
Co because she's a bubbly bundle of energy
Nancy cause she mixes a wicked good martini
Christi cause she she was supposed to go with us to CHA last year and couldn't.

On the small silver screen tonight
Chocolat!!!
Does it get ANY better than this?
Johnny Depp....swoon...he is an acting god!
Lena Olin.....I adore her!
And chocolate!!! Onscreen and in my little goodie bag I'm bringing to the fete.
We're debating on whether to make Phil watch it in French with English subtitles, but may cut him a break beacuse it is a primo chick flick after all.
I love chick flick movie night...the PERFECT way to celebrate Hump Day!

Hunk o hunk of burnin love............
................scrappin mojo that is!
Now if I could just feel the LOVE for my own photos....snort!
Today...yes today...I completed 22, yes that is TWENTY TWO 12 x 12 pages for a client who hired me to do two years of her beach photos.
Working a strong CZ vibe and a pile of KI Memories and Bazzill later, with some HS embellies and Rubons to round it all out and I am DONE!
Woot!!!
Dang I'm tired....I hear a glass of Bogle Chardonnay calling my name. That is if I can get off my tush and work my way down to the fridge.
And bonus!
The money from the job is going into our Spring Break fund.
More on that later....something new... something different...something the WHOLE family will love!
Anyone want to play 20 questions??? (Well except for Wen...she won't play with me anymore...huuummmppphhh!)
and I'm not talking Disney...nothin wrong with that....just not...THAT!)
Plans are in the works people and I am excited for Spring Break in a way I haven't been for YEARS!

Not that there was any doubt!!!
Ladies Night Update
It was a smash!
We ended up going with Sabrina instead and after all these viewings I picked up on a new line. I can't imagine how I missed this one because it is TRES excellent!
“All columnists should be beaten to a pulp and converted back into paper!”
Now THAT is seriously funny!
Between that and the infinitely quotable line from LOST this week...............
"So what are you going to do? Beat me with your Jesus Stick?"......................
has left me with some keepers to add to my quote book!
And it's Trivia time...yes it is!
If you love Sabrina as much as I do, or are just a sucker for trivia...read on for these fascinating tidbits. You never know, you might be on Jeopardy one day and the DAily Double willl be Sabrina for $1000 and you will SMOKE it!
The original 1954. The remake 1995.
This was the second film in a row where Audrey Hepburn gets her hair cut as a symbol of maturity. The first was in Roman Holiday (1953). It is also the first of four films in a row where she'd play a character romantically linked with a man old enough to be her father. See below.
Co-stars Audrey Hepburn and William Holden fell in love during the making of this film, but Hepburn broke off the relationship on learning that Holden could not have children.
No matter what, Humphrey Bogart had to quit work at 6pm on the dot, because that was the time he started drinking his Scotch and sodas. If anyone tried to get him to work after 6pm, he would just walk away.
Finally, in 1954, when the movie was made Humphrey Bogart was 55 YEARS OLD!
Thanks to my friend Phil for sending those to me after our ladies night. (Who obviously knows how to do the linky thing - see post above. I am linky... and come to think of it, blinky challenged. But hey...I can flat out COOK!)
Yes, you heard me, we have an interloper in our midst. But he's trying to get in touch with his feminine side and he hosts it so we can be without darling little appendages, otherwise known as children.
And besides, one more male who can be brought over from the dark side to the light, well we considered it a public service actually!
next week?
An Officer and a Gentlemen!

It's Ladies Night
"and the feelings right...oh yes it's ladies night...oh what a night!" (name that artist...heh!)
So off I go to our innaugral Ladies Night, which revolves around chick flicks, libations and soul baring....did I mention libations will be involved? (note to self...don't forget the camera)
I am in charge of the movies tonight so I decided to go for the classics...Audrey Hepburn baby!
My viewing public gets to pick from:
Breakfast at Tiffanys (the odds on winner)
Sabrina(my personal favorite)
Roman Holiday
Sooooo....if you were a Audrey Hepburn movie...what would you be??? (thinking to self. SELF.....how do I submit that stellar idea to the blog site where Dina keeps tagging us with great quizzes?)
I'll dish more tomorrow!

The Problem with................
Smokers
The thing is... I have some sympathy for the pariahs that smokers have become, being a former one myself.
But, that was over 20 years ago when I was young and impressionable and trying not to gain weight in college.
DUH...then I discovered runnning to replace skating and all was good.
But Carrie's post about offensive smells on her blog (see link to the left) brought back memories of Christmas office parties gone by.
I have been around so long that I am in the hallowed core of employees who remember when those parties revolved around unlimited drinks, an after party and an after-after party and the HIGHLIGHT of the party...........................
SKITS!
We actually had a skit once (I was not the mastermind) that parodied all non smokers bolting from the elevator when the smokers got on the elevator after a "break"
That added with a seque of the "heavy perfume users" getting on the elevator, dousing themselves with the contents of their atomizers as they rode up and down was pure comic genius.
Needless to say everyone thought it was hysterical, well except for the smokers. The heavy perfume users never got the joke cause they were clueless.
Come to think of it that was the end of skits as we knew them. Now it's a talent show and if you get booed it's your own damn fault for getting up on stage in the first place.
But the thing is....I miss those skits...funny stuff!

Why I love TWOP
TWOP you say?
What perchance is TWOP? Well it's right over there....no THERE....over on the left!! See my FAB Sites category....have you ever clicked on it???
If the answer is no............. WAIT!!!
It's obviously an acronym....but for what dear bloggers, for what???
Not ............Two Women on Percocet
Not ................Two Wines of Paris
No...no...for the unitiated, let me enlighten you.
TWOP is short for Television WithOut Pity and let me just say, my TV viewing life became complete the day I was introduced to this website.
Cause even if the episode of my favorite TV show was a total and utter train wreck that week, the insanely intelligent and snarky humor from the recaps and the commentary in the forums was more than fair consolation.
And if my episode was great.....ahhhhh then I could bask in the comical consensus of my peers over a job well done.
Try it...you'll LIKE it!
And besides, I discovery little gems like this http://www.tvgasm.com/archives/food_network/001570.php in the forums.
I (((HEART))) TWOP!!!

They break your heart
The real, REAL reason I didn't want a dog...truth?
Cause I knew they could break my heart.
My heart was broken for one VERY long hour today when Jake pulled a houdini and managed to get out of our fenced backyard with all of the gates closed and locked and slipped his collar.
Fortunately a neighbor up the street found him and had him in her backyard and another friend recognized him and told my dh when she saw him out patrolling the streets for the little escape artist.
I was CONVINCED that someone had stolen him and that we'd never see him again and it would absolutely break my kids hearts.
I can't believe I could love a dog that much....little stinker.

My Top FIVE Reasons why I love Chicos!
I spent a BOATLOAD of moolah at Chico's over the holidays to celebrate my recent weight loss.
Now some might nag at me for buing new clothes when I'm NOT done losing weight, but to those critics I only have this to say in my defense..........
PFLLBHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
Yes somedays I am this many (holding up three fingers)
I'm sure I could be more articulate but I'm too tired from staying up all night chatting with various girlies in my life.
So to the point...why do I love Chico's???
ONE
Their sizes are VERY much geared to BOOST female ego. I mean let's face it, anyplace where sizes start at ZERO and max at THREE has to be a good thing...RIGHT??!!
Right...so I'm a TWO now...woot woot...ROFL!
TWO (not size two, but reason two)
Coupons!!! Dang skippy baby. If you enroll in the passport Club, which costs you NO money, you get all kinds of coupons throughout the year to take the sting out of the RIDICULOUSLY high prices.
(unlike the B & N freguent buyer club which does cost money...uhhhmmm...hello? Why am I PAYING for an extra 10% off...DUH!)
Combine that with ONLY buying sale items and momma's done gone and got herself a new outfit!
THREE
The mirrors!!!
The mirrors make you look FABULOUS! I don't know how they do it. It's got to be some kind of funhouse curve they put into those things, but all I know is I likey what I see!
FOUR
All the stuff is so DANG funky and fun and cool and classic...all at the same time. The accessories are TDF! And it all makes me look skinny and cute and that makes me HAPPY!
And we all know if Momma's happy....EVERYONE is happy!
FIVE
The sales staff PAMPERS me!!!
Seriously, I go in with an armload of stuff and start tossing the rejects out and they run and get me different sizes, different styles...those gals know how to work it...for sure!
It's like shopping with your best girlfriends when you don't have your best girlfriends with you. And let me tell you..they AREN'T afraid to tell you what works on you and what MOST definitely does NOT!
Honesty in sales.....LOVE the concept!
So there you have it my top FIVE reasons for loving Chico's.
I do believe a new catalog (with my name on it!) and MORE coupons will be arriving any day now.
SQUEE!

The adventures of Me in dial up land
Can I first state for the record, officially and unequivocably that dial up sucks?
Okay. Good.
Glad I got that off my chest cause blogging has been near impossible since my computer crashed and burned on 12/22.
Supposedly my baby is coming home from her tech TLC today all buffed and waxed and ready to rumble. (I'm actually blogging here at work before the start of my work day) Apparently the virus came in through Yahoo messenger and was trying to attack my communications link at work and when it couldn't get in had a "temper tantrum" and hence the pop ups of disgusting nature.
Seriously, hackers need to get a life. Such a waste of potential.
Well off to work I click.
And for all of you who may be in dial up land by choice....my heartfelt sympathies.
