Every day gives us the opportunity to be kinder, stronger, wiser, more loving.
Celebrate those opportunities every season of your life.

When you find something you really love, you can lose yourself in it.
I lose myself in the words of Anne Lamott, in the music of Elevation Worship, in the view from my back porch.
Losing self, can open the door for greater joy and gratitude.

Mondays can be tough
But they are also an opportunity for a do over
Heck, every day is a chance for a do over.
#WednesdayWisdom

It was a LONG day, late night yesterday and I'm not sure if there is enough coffee to get me up to speed.

Oldest safely arrived at a friend's grandparents after evacuating last night. A normal 2 hour drive took over 6. Thank you Cyndi Moss Johnson and your precious parents for taking him in! And Norma Chester Maxwell for your sweet son making the drive.

I just wasn't up to driving in all the craziness of ATL traffic this morning, so I took MARTA, our rapid transit train system.

And it was so peaceful. And easy.

I got extra steps in as I walked from the train station to my office

The air smells crisp, like a fresh apple. I love how every season has a unique scent.

A dapper man in a bow tie and bowler, tipped his hat at me and wished me a hearty good morning.

I noticed so many things that I had overlooked or could not see during my normal drive.

Change is good.
It awakens the senses
And gives you a greater appreciation for what you have and what God has in store for you.

#TuesdayThoughts

My beautiful lion heart of a friend Claudia shared her mantra today

"She slept with wolves without fear, for the wolves knew a lion was among them" - r.m. drake

We can be a wolf

Or a lion

No matter how insignificant the progress may seem today, I am still one step closer than I was the day before.

#TuesdayTruths
Step up and over your past mistakes
You can’t disavow them
But you can use them as a foothold up to your future
Alley Oop!

When your feet hit the ground each morning, say to your self:
"Despite that which may try to break me, I will breakthrough"

Monday, August 29, 2016

I'm no longer shocked when people behave badly.
Texting is not the way to deliver bad news. Just saying.

I guess I should be, but instead have long since come to the realization that personal integrity is the key to a happy life.
You can't control others actions, you can only control yours.
As my sons beloved former swim coach always said after every practice:
"Make good choices"

#ThursdayTruths

Back at it
Again

Facebook is a great sharing tool

But Blogging is a great preservation tool.

So I'm back to my original blog, because well the title is just cool

And Pat Conroy's postmortem publication of the same name is supposed to be coming out next year.

So obviously I chose wisely when it came to my title.

For over a year now, I've been been writing #GratitudeNotes in the wake of my cycling accident last July.

Those gratitude noes have now evolved into specific daily notes with different hashtags

Here is today's thought.

Kindness doesn't cost a thing.
Yesterday after a really rough day at work, I was waiting to pull out of the driveway at the office and saw something unfold that warmed my heart.
A young man in a non-motorized wheelchair was sitting at the corner looking up at a very steep hill that he obviously was trying to surmount. He also had to cross four lanes of one way traffic on a very busy street.
A construction worker, seeing his situation, sprinted over and proceed to push him two blocks up that very steep hill.
The only cost? Time.
Time is a precious gift but one that is easily shared.
My personal challenge this week? Be someone's angel.
