Shiver me timbers

Our scouting trip to the USS Yorktown this past week-end was

Cold
Noisy
Smelly

It was also

Exhausting
Humbling
Exhilerating

This week-end taught me a lot, ie:

You never know how good a cup of coffee tastes until you can't run to Starbucks or your own coffee maker

You don't take for granted the warmth and comfort of your own bed

You appreciate the relative quiet of your own house at 11PM

But still enjoy hanging out and laughing with three other women in your bunk room and thank god for ear plugs!

And at the end of the trip?

I take home a lot of dirty laundry, some slightly achey muscles and a greater appreciation, respect and gratitude for those who serve aboard and abroad.

YO HO me maties

Yo Ho

We are to set sail in a very short time

Belize
Guatemala
Mexico

The house sitter is in order to watch over our sweet poochies

(ahem...aka... our "dear sweet massive obnoxious overly protective barking like maniacs" canines)

yes he will be there to tender loving care to our mongrels...more so than to safeguard our meager possessions

I have some spiffy new togs on order
and a new swimsuit (Dont get me started on my virtual model Holly...the wench)
We all have journals
Anyone want to place odds on who is going to journal the most after me?
Cause we all know I'm going to win THAT one...yes?

HUZZAH!

This will be only the second vacay we have taken as a singular family unit (outside of insane massive summer reunions) since we wed and bred over 20 years ago

It's a big freakin deal.

I

AM

Beyond

Excited

Still no pedicure

But I have these really cute VD socks and a glass of wine

So two out of three is pretty damn good... yes?

It's that weird part of the year when all of the festivities of the winter season are over and all you have is the promise of spring.

Sucks that DH and my birthdays both fall in those doldrums because I really don't feel like celebrating either.

The folks in Louisiana have the right idea...throw a kick ass party with lots of friends and family and throw in a healthy dose of beads and food and merriment.

I think I need to book a flight down to the bayou post haste.
