Our scouting trip to the USS Yorktown this past week-end was
Cold
Noisy
Smelly
It was also
Exhausting
Humbling
Exhilerating
This week-end taught me a lot, ie:
You never know how good a cup of coffee tastes until you can't run to Starbucks or your own coffee maker
You don't take for granted the warmth and comfort of your own bed
You appreciate the relative quiet of your own house at 11PM
But still enjoy hanging out and laughing with three other women in your bunk room and thank god for ear plugs!
And at the end of the trip?
I take home a lot of dirty laundry, some slightly achey muscles and a greater appreciation, respect and gratitude for those who serve aboard and abroad.
