Whoops..upside the head....I say

upside the head.

Today we are supposed to blog about something really funny. In typical fashion my family takes something that is scary as all get out and manages to find some humor in the situation.

Case in point?

BamBam got beaned by a ball at his game last night.

Fortunately, or not, yours truly was not present to witness said beaning.

Why you ask? Because I left after the second inning to clean the bathrooms and let Jake the Wonder Dog out to do his biznez.

All I got was second hand accounts, for which I am eternally thankful. If I had been there? In the moment? It wouldn't have been pretty. Why?

Because Momma Tiger has big long scary eye teeth and a wicked temper when her kits are in danger

So to RECAP

BamBam: Man he was throwin like a wild man and he hit me in the jaw and LOOK at my bruise

Me: Uhhmmmm...I don't see anything (Which MIGHT make me a lock for the WORST MOM EVER award but read on)

DH: God honey. My heart stopped. You could of heard a pin drop.

BamBam: And then WHAMMMM...man that kid can throw some serious heat!! Hey do you think I can throw that hard? Can we go out in the backyard tomorrow and practice?

Me: You want me to throw balls? at you? Are you serious?????

DH: He dropped like a log and was down for about a minute. But then he got up and said he was okay and wanted to stay in the game.

BamBam: So then Laine...he hit one REALLY hard and I took off running and I kept looking at my coaches and they kept waiving me

DH: And you wouldn't believe it.....our boy scored a run from FIRST after being knocked to the ground. Good lord almighty that boy is FAST!

Me: "Oh Honey you really got back on the horse...YEAH???!! High Five. Big Kiss!!! Hit the shower big guy!"

All the while giving DH the baleful eye in my well honed after 20 years of weddedness telepathic connection saying "You LET him PLAY after THAT??!!"

SEQUE

A dad in the neighborhood whose son played for the opposing team called us that night to make sure BamBam was okay. Good man...class act.

We told him BamBam was fine and obviously his head was almost as hard as the helmet.

EPILOGUE

They won the game

He doesn't have a concussion

It didn't hit him in the jaw

It hit him in the temple, which rattled his jaw(see above,so okay...I am NOT the worst mommy ever, just on the short list. For not being there)

Thank God for batting helmets

that protect the temple

and the resiliency of youth

Mama Tiger is slinking back to her lair now....it's safe to come out.
