A Julia Child Moment

OMG....did anyone see this yesterday??!!

Hysterical!! Paula had a Julia Child moment par excellence!

Let me set the scene. Paula is doing her thang at a kitchen set up on the stage with Oprah tasting and commenting. The camera crew had panned to the audience eating her fried chicken and poundcake and then to her two sons in the front row.

Oprah asked the "boys" why they weren't eating and the youngest said "I"m too nervous, Momma's on Oprah"

And then I KID YOU NOT, "as the words are still a bubble hanging from his mouth" (thank you Billy Crystal), Paula proceeds to drop her little tiny glass bowl of vanilla extract into the kitchen aid stand mixer that is GOING!!!!

The noise is horrific, batter splatters ALLover Paula and then the gosh darn tiny glass bowl SHOOTS out of the mixer and ACROSS the stage!!

Oprah and Paula were laughing so hard I though Oprah was going to choke on the poundcake in her mouth.

It took them a full three mintues to recover and even then they were still giggling.

Oh my,oh my....Julia Child's spirit was definitely in Oprah's house.

AND THEN

Juila took a moment to visit mine while I pulled a pan of pizza out of the oven using a folded up place mat last night.

HEY.....did anyone know that placemats are highly flammable when they come in contact with the coil of your stove????

WELLLLLLLL you do NOW!!

I dropped the pizza pan back on the rack, ran to the sink with the burning remains, yelling (veddy, veddy quietly) fire, fire fire and dropped it into my sink that was full of water.

I'm starting to think Momma's kitchen rule of always having a sink full of water was for more than the purpose of putting dishes to soak while you cook food!

Hee....DH's birthday was truly a "HOT" time in the ole kitchen last night!
