The first two months of the year are traditionally "out with the old and in with the new" in our household.
That is because we are in between sports (Huzzah!) and find we have time on our hands to tackle the chaos that grows in the nooks and crannies and basement (shudder) during the rest of the year.
I try to tackle one tiny nook or cranny each day.
We save the basement for several week-end forays(HUZZAH!!!)
Yesterday after the long trek home from Florida, I cleaned out my everyday china cabinet in the kitchen. I have no explanation for this momentary burst of insanity and productivity. Other than nine hours in a car with two preteens can work wonky magic on a gal's cleaning hormones.
The discards are carefully wrapped and are going to our Community Action Center.
And in their place is the workhorse everyday china from my childhood. Hull "brown drip" pottery. My mom gifted it to me this past week and with it the gift of memories. Of onion soup and smoky spicy chili and sweet after school snacks and countless family dinners.
Happiness on a plate

what is it about dishes that provoke such fond memories???
One of my gazillion aunts used to have those dishes - and boy could she cook.
