Blog challenge today is to post five thangs I'm grateful for. Today I am feeling very sassy and not at all sentimental, so be forewarned!
1) I am really, really grateful that I have a washing machine and dryer. And a dishwasher. And Central Air Conditioning. And oh hey that microwave thing and an oven. And electricty. Seriously, I so would have stunk at being a pioneeer woman. I just would have up and refused to be everyone's doormat. And then they would have branded me a witch and drowned me, which while proving that in fact, I wasn't a witch, at least got me out of back breaking manual labor.
2) I am thankful that Clairol Natural Essence in Nutmeg is as close as my neighborhood grocery store and I don't have to ransom my children to achieve something closely approximating my youthful natural color
3) I am insanely appreciative for Trader Joe's. Every time I pass through the hallowed aisles I give thanks for the hormone free milk, the cheap organic produce, the roasted corn and "greens with envy" in the frozen section and the wine. Especially the wine. Can we have a shout out for the wine?!
4) I am thankful that Ms. Carlson taught me how to balance a checkbook in 7th grade "accoutning". That my dad taught me how to separate darks from lights in the laundry and how to change a tire. And that my mom, the former home ec teacher, taught me to cook at a really early age. Feeling competent sure beats the heck out of feeling like a dumbass.
5) And finally (on a slightly sentimental note) I am grateful for all the people in my life, DH, my boys, family, friends, cyber and otherwise, who put up with me and make me laugh in spite of myself. Thanks gang!

Lisa - too funny! My dad taught us how to sort laundry, change a car tire AND the oil!
wish you would come out of your shell - the tone of your blog is so reserved today . . . . lol . . .
kbow what i'm grateful for? that you made me laugh by saying 'say no to more boys and yes to me time'. i just found it amusing.
i'm also grateful you're spending a bit more time at SG and on your blog.
and who knows. maybe one day i will show up 100% fully expecting a glass of chilled wine and the best seat in da house (aka the deck). i am sure that one day we will go to atlanta to see scott, laurie and the new baby.
#4 rocks! I think all kids should learn to balance a check book and change a tire. As for cooking, I think it's a talent. Yes, you can learn the basics, but it's definitely something I am not good at! We just add more wine and everything tastes better.
LOL
I am so envious that you have Trader Joe's!!!
we are so lucky to have great family and friends.
#1 just cracks me up:)
